CORONA PRESS is an independent publisher located near Boulder, Colorado and owned by author Bonnie Kalar, an English major with postgraduate work in early childhood education and language arts instruction emphasizing phonics.  She holds a preprimary teaching credential from the American Montessori Society and a certificate of course completion from the Spalding Education Foundation. During her many years as a preschool through grade 1 teacher and private reading tutor, she was dismayed by the lack of good phonetic materials for beginning readers. As a reading specialist and a strong advocate of phonics, she determined to develop her own instructional readers upon retirement from teaching. Since the publication of the Early Phonetic Readers, she has developed additional readers and supplemental materials for the early elementary grades.
